July has been a whirlwind of outdoor adventures and big life changes. We went on two trips, moved from one apartment to another in face-melting heat, and spent every moment of down time unpacking boxes and packing bags. I made these margaritas for my family while we were in the remote reaches of Michigan’s upper peninsula, where kombucha isn’t exactly a hot commodity. There’s approximately one grocery store within a 50 mile radius of our cabin that carried the flavor I needed, and I was preparing myself to make the trek there.
As we were finishing up dinner at a small restaurant in Marquette, though, we made a strangely serendipitous connection. One lone dude at the bar happened to own a budding kombucha shop just down the street, and he offered to bring us down to his closed shop and sell us a bottle.
We cashed out, drove two blocks down the street, and walked up the steps while he flicked on the lights and hooked up a tap. He sold me a bottle of his strawberry-rhubarb kombucha and I gotta say, it’s delicious. So if you ever find yourself with a kombucha emergency in the U.P., head to Superior Culture and tell ‘em Feelin’ Whisky sent ya.

In any case, this drink is so delicious and summery that I’d consider not having it a kombucha emergency.
And bonus: they’re the easiest cocktails I’ve ever posted on the blog. The process is simple: chuck some tequila, strawberry syrup, lime juice, and jalapeño slices in a cocktail shaker. Shake ‘em up with some ice till they’re frosty, then strain ‘em over more ice and top it up with strawberry kombucha. I like to squeeze over an additional lime wedge and garnish with strawberry and jalapeño.
Now, if ya don’t mind, I’m gonna go back to sipping these sweet-n-spicy margs on the dock. Gotta soak up summer before it slips away!

Strawberry Jalapeño Kombucha Margaritas
Strawberry Jalapeño Kombucha Margaritas are sweet, spicy, tangy, and refreshing: perfect for summer afternoons. Made sweeter with Torani Strawberry Puremade Syrup!

- 3 ounces silver tequila
- 2 ounces Torani Strawberry Puremade Syrup
- 1 ounce lime juice, (from about 1 large lime)
- 1/2 large jalapeño, (thinly sliced)
- 4 ounces strawberry kombucha
- Sliced strawberries, jalapeños, and limes, (optional)
- In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, Torani Strawberry Puremade Syrup, lime juice, jalapeño, and ice. Shake for 30-60 seconds or until shaker is chilled. Strain into lowball glasses filled with ice, then top with strawberry kombucha. Garnish with strawberry slices, lime wedges, and additional jalapeños, if desired.
